National Arts Festival

Hi Everyone,

I'm well aware that it has been ages since I have last updated my blog. I wish life was all about blogging but that is not the case. There are so many demanding things in life like school and work, and they sure did have me all tied up...

I had an opportunity to let down my hair and have fun. I attended the National Arts Festival that is held in Grahamstown every year June/July. I was very excited about it. expecting to see the streets packed to capacity by stalls, with no space to move. well, it was this way at all. the streets were rather quiet and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. my friends and I ventured into the buildings and landed in a Fine Art Exhibition where we tried to think "deeper" about what could be behind what was drawn. we were successful in only one interpretation out of the many. I suppose it does require a certain skill after all. I unfortunately have no pictures to show case of the art gallery because no picture taking was allowed.

On the streets were small items that were on sale like these ornaments:

after we hit the streets a friend who was a performer contacted us and we took some time out to chill. later on that afternoon he took us to where everything was. when I got there i just felt a surge of excitement. it was buzzing with people and had numerous stalls where people were selling things like clothing and food. the fullest stall was where the alcohol was... I suppose people really wanted to unwind and we all have our different ways.

Some kids who were show casing their dancing talent for some donations...

This group, I'll call them entertainers, were very interesting. they danced and did little sketches. They even used some of the audiences members in their sketches.

Its eventually became necessary to fill our stomachs... We had nice boerewors rolls from one of the stalls.

After walking around, browsing through the stall, buying a few things here and there and eating, we were off to our very first appointment of the day... A live performance by the Muffinz, yes with a Z.

The Muffins are a the new kids on the block but by no means amateurs. In my opinion, they are going to take over the world, and I'm not saying this just gain their favor. It was my first time hearing them Live and they blew me away. Their performance was at a lovely venue called Prime and it started at 15:30. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think they enjoyed my friends and I as an audience as well. Here are the gorgeous boys in action:

After that performance the most exciting part of my day was upon me. I am a crazy fan of theater productions. I finally had an opportunity to view one after a very long time. The play that I went to go and watch with my best friend who shares the same sentiments was called Mies Julie. The production was so deep with meaning and emotion i literally had my mouth open the whole time. The actors were talented and they owned their characters. The review can be found below:

I must be honest I really had a good time with all my friends. We ended off the night with supper that was cooked by yours truly :) joined by the Muffinz who were dying to have a proper meal (the life of bachelors) and some drinks (Appletizer and such) at Pirates, a chill spot in G-Town.

Would I go again? Definately. If you haven't been... take the time! It is well worth it.

The Kim Kardashian Look

One Saturday at church I was dressed in my very gorgeous, if I do say so myself, ankle boots I had bought from YDE (Young Designers Emporium). A friend of mine approached me and complimented my boots. the statement she made next is what inspired this post. She said, Mandy, you should rock these boots the way Kim Kardashian would, especially because you have the body to rock it! Don't roll your eyes at me though, it came right from the horses mouth so i'm not blowing my own  horn at all... So how can one rock the Kim Kardashian look?

What you will need:
A Black Blazer. It can have buttons or not. its up to you...

A white tank top. You can make it any color though. but keep it classy!

A pair of shiny black leggings. Non Negotiable!

and to seal the deal, a pair of suede ankle stiletto boots! (Sexy heal work too)

The finished product:

And to accessorize, if you're that person:

A nice big hand bag.

And there you have it...

Procrastination

Procrastination is the thief of time.  ~Edward Young

Isn't that a quote we've heard all to often? How amazing it is that even I use it while I am busy procrastinating, making it a joke that oh so true. These past few months I have been bombarded with soooo many assignments and procrastination just wasn't the answer. Yet somehow I found so many ways to pass my time. You're probably a victim of procrastination as well, and quite frankly I want to move away from being its victim. But how does one STOP procrastinating.

Let me first share with you what it is that I most often that is not in my daily schedule... you can compare and you can share yours too:

I'm a game junkie and recently I discovered that greatest game that I have ever played... Well, maybe not greatest is its pretty great and addictive too. Its called Bubble Safari on Facebook; people who are my contacts on Facebook are probably frantically nodding their heads in agreement because of the numerous requests they have received from me.

Bubble Safari
This has to be the most time consuming procrastinating tool I uitlise.

But generally here is the program in brief:
I'll spend my days looking for anything interesting on Google, in between I will chat on Whatsapp and on Facebook Chat and i'll tweet here and there. When I find nothing interesting I will go on people's profile and start looking at their pictures. When that gets boring I will day dream a little, then have lunch, a little nap because i'm tired. more chatting and more Bubble Safari. After hours it get worse because of the demon called TV, moving from one Soapie to another, Days of our Lives, 7de Laan, News(constructive time use :)), Isidingo, Generations, Muvhango and then its generally too late to do anything.

Its all very ridiculous if you ask me, because at the end of the day I have to power to overcome my own useless habits and utilize my time the best way I can.

Looking at it from a serious point of view procrastination is always triggered by something. By that I mean that there is a cause for procrastinating. It can either be cause you are lazy, stress or you lack motivation, just to name a few, but whatever the reason maybe it is the first step to overcoming procrastination. The video below tells you how you can overcome procrastination:

Here are a few other references for your convenience on overcoming procrastination that I have found to make sense and have assisted me with my bad habit of procrastination:

Don't let it overcome you,Empower yourself to overcome it!

REMEMBER: TIME WASTED NEVER RETURNS....
