I'm well aware that it has been ages since I have last updated my blog. I wish life was all about blogging but that is not the case. There are so many demanding things in life like school and work, and they sure did have me all tied up...
I had an opportunity to let down my hair and have fun. I attended the National Arts Festival that is held in Grahamstown every year June/July. I was very excited about it. expecting to see the streets packed to capacity by stalls, with no space to move. well, it was this way at all. the streets were rather quiet and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. my friends and I ventured into the buildings and landed in a Fine Art Exhibition where we tried to think "deeper" about what could be behind what was drawn. we were successful in only one interpretation out of the many. I suppose it does require a certain skill after all. I unfortunately have no pictures to show case of the art gallery because no picture taking was allowed.
On the streets were small items that were on sale like these ornaments:
after we hit the streets a friend who was a performer contacted us and we took some time out to chill. later on that afternoon he took us to where everything was. when I got there i just felt a surge of excitement. it was buzzing with people and had numerous stalls where people were selling things like clothing and food. the fullest stall was where the alcohol was... I suppose people really wanted to unwind and we all have our different ways.
This group, I'll call them entertainers, were very interesting. they danced and did little sketches. They even used some of the audiences members in their sketches.
Its eventually became necessary to fill our stomachs... We had nice boerewors rolls from one of the stalls.
After walking around, browsing through the stall, buying a few things here and there and eating, we were off to our very first appointment of the day... A live performance by the Muffinz, yes with a Z.
The Muffins are a the new kids on the block but by no means amateurs. In my opinion, they are going to take over the world, and I'm not saying this just gain their favor. It was my first time hearing them Live and they blew me away. Their performance was at a lovely venue called Prime and it started at 15:30. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think they enjoyed my friends and I as an audience as well. Here are the gorgeous boys in action:

After that performance the most exciting part of my day was upon me. I am a crazy fan of theater productions. I finally had an opportunity to view one after a very long time. The play that I went to go and watch with my best friend who shares the same sentiments was called Mies Julie. The production was so deep with meaning and emotion i literally had my mouth open the whole time. The actors were talented and they owned their characters. The review can be found below:

I must be honest I really had a good time with all my friends. We ended off the night with supper that was cooked by yours truly :) joined by the Muffinz who were dying to have a proper meal (the life of bachelors) and some drinks (Appletizer and such) at Pirates, a chill spot in G-Town.
Would I go again? Definately. If you haven't been... take the time! It is well worth it.
