Matters of the Heart that only He Understands...

So, it has been the longest time. Between now and the last post I have had a lot going on, the best being employed by a wonderful agency with wonderful people where I am learning a lot, and the worst, well... that's the reason why I am here.

The year started on a good note and it continued to look promising, until about 2 weeks ago. Ever been in a position where you are in a hole and you are trying to find ways to get out but nothing seems to be a good enough idea to get you out, well that's me.

The statement: "Once bitten, twice shy," doesn't at all apply to me. I find myself in the situation I was in five years ago. Different script, same cast but twice bitten nonetheless. I keep reasoning with myself, trying to make sense of this whole mess and trying to fill in the gaps and find sensible answers but it just isn't coming together. I am going through something I am sure many people have gone through but today can give a testimony that they made it through just fine. If it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger right?

Yesterday I believed I was okay because the past 3 days I had a smile on my face, but this morning I woke up and I took 2 steps back. I realize now that I cannot do this on my own, I have to go back to that one person who remains in control when I, and even the rest of humankind, have lost control. It's so true when they say problems seem larger without the presence of God. If anyone is feeling down, like they cannot take it anymore, like they do not know where to go, like they are stuck, if anyone is heart broken remember the words written by Gordon Jenkins:

Tears are a Language God Understands...

Often you wonder why tears come into your eyes
And burdens seem to be much more than you can stand
But God is standing near, He sees your falling tears
Tears are a language God understands.
God sees the tears of a brokenhearted soul
He sees your tears and hears them when they fall
God weeps along with man and takes him by the hand
Tears are a language God understands.
When grief has left you low it causes tears to flow
And things have not turned out the way that you had planned
But God won’t forget you His promises are true
Tears are a language God understands.
You are never alone, stick to those who care and love for you genuinely.

Signing out...

Happy New Year!!

Okay, I must admit... I haven'y updated in a mighty long time. Initially it was just a school project but I've learnt that now its a platform to express myself. And I actually have time on my hands to do it. So apologies on the inconsistency but I promise that 2013 will be better.

Having said that, I'd like to wish all my followers, and prospective followers a Happy New Year (its only late after January)! May this year bring Prosperity, Love and all things nice :)

xoxo

Things I want to do in the near future...

1. Going on a Cruise.
It seems that a lot of people are doing this lately. I really want to just be out of sight with no connection to reality whatsoever... Just to have fun!
The MSC Opera Cruise Ship
If this is something you would like to do as well you can visit: http://www.msccruises.com/gl_en/select_your_country.aspx

2. Shark Cave Diving
This is a bit bold considering I'm one of those people who would never ever go sky diving or even bunjee jumping but I would really love to do it.
Swimming with the sharks... ion one way or the other!
If this is something you would like to do as well you can visit: http://www.sharkcagediving.co.za/

3. Paintballing
I've heard this is rather painful but hey, I just want that warrior feeling...
Picture taken at the Paintball Heaven- doesn't it make you feel like a warrior?
the nice thing about this is that its right under my nose and its affordable. Don't ask me why I haven't gone!
If you're interested visit: www.paintballheaven.co.za

4. Last but definitely not least... I would love to visit Mozambique!
There is something that is soooo relaxing about the islands and just being with people who don't know me. I would love to explore and experience another culture and this is something that definitely does it for me...
Donations anyone?
Beach at one of the resort in Moz... isn't it beautiful?

Almost Every Girl's Dream... The Wedding!!

Almost every girl (there are always exceptions) dreams of the day they will get married. What I'm specifically talking about is the Wedding Day. I fantasize about it a lot, I'm not even ashamed to say so, and that is because so much planning goes into it. Soooo, being the organizer I am, I decided to make a folder for myself a year ago where I insert all the concepts I would most likely go for. These ideas range from dresses, decor, colors, shoes... everything you can think of. I decided to share a few of my concepts:

Wedding Dress:
A little something like this... In white or cream of course!!
Decor: (what I've loved so far)
A little bit of this...
A little bit of this...
.. and a little bit of this!
I'll make it work somehow.

Bridesmaids:
I am yet to discover some colors and a nice meals and invitations... just thinking about it makes me dizzy :)

P.S. This post is in mo way meant to scare away my future husband... Just sharing my thoughts!

Ideas have been adopted from: Wedding Gallery - http://wedding-gallery.net/index.php/Wedding-Dresses

60's Vintage!!!

I was overwhelmed with excitement when I received my cousins invitation last week where will be celebrating her achievements for becoming a Chartered Accountant. More than anything I think i was thrilled because its the first themed party I will be going to and for me, the theme is a concept out of my comfort zone. I'm in a position where I have to explore. So that's what I did... i checked out websites where I could get some ideas on what I could wear. Here are a few I liked...

The general trend is figure hugging and floral!!
I supposed this would be nice paired up with a nice hairstyle and hair accessory, and some gloves!
This probably won't work for someone with curves but I can always improvise!!
Oh my, this is 1959 but i think its close enough!
The designs are more or less the same. I'd like to hear from you.... which look is best?

National Arts Festival

Hi Everyone,

I'm well aware that it has been ages since I have last updated my blog. I wish life was all about blogging but that is not the case. There are so many demanding things in life like school and work, and they sure did have me all tied up...

I had an opportunity to let down my hair and have fun. I attended the National Arts Festival that is held in Grahamstown every year June/July. I was very excited about it. expecting to see the streets packed to capacity by stalls, with no space to move. well, it was this way at all. the streets were rather quiet and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. my friends and I ventured into the buildings and landed in a Fine Art Exhibition where we tried to think "deeper" about what could be behind what was drawn. we were successful in only one interpretation out of the many. I suppose it does require a certain skill after all. I unfortunately have no pictures to show case of the art gallery because no picture taking was allowed.

On the streets were small items that were on sale like these ornaments:

after we hit the streets a friend who was a performer contacted us and we took some time out to chill. later on that afternoon he took us to where everything was. when I got there i just felt a surge of excitement. it was buzzing with people and had numerous stalls where people were selling things like clothing and food. the fullest stall was where the alcohol was... I suppose people really wanted to unwind and we all have our different ways.

Some kids who were show casing their dancing talent for some donations...

This group, I'll call them entertainers, were very interesting. they danced and did little sketches. They even used some of the audiences members in their sketches.

Its eventually became necessary to fill our stomachs... We had nice boerewors rolls from one of the stalls.

After walking around, browsing through the stall, buying a few things here and there and eating, we were off to our very first appointment of the day... A live performance by the Muffinz, yes with a Z.

The Muffins are a the new kids on the block but by no means amateurs. In my opinion, they are going to take over the world, and I'm not saying this just gain their favor. It was my first time hearing them Live and they blew me away. Their performance was at a lovely venue called Prime and it started at 15:30. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think they enjoyed my friends and I as an audience as well. Here are the gorgeous boys in action:
For more information on the Muffins you can visit their Facebook page on the link below:

After that performance the most exciting part of my day was upon me. I am a crazy fan of theater productions. I finally had an opportunity to view one after a very long time. The play that I went to go and watch with my best friend who shares the same sentiments was called Mies Julie. The production was so deep with meaning and emotion i literally had my mouth open the whole time. The actors were talented and they owned their characters. The review can be found below:

I must be honest I really had a good time with all my friends. We ended off the night with supper that was cooked by yours truly :) joined by the Muffinz who were dying to have a proper meal (the life of bachelors) and some drinks (Appletizer and such) at Pirates, a chill spot in G-Town.

Would I go again? Definately. If you haven't been... take the time! It is well worth it.

The Kim Kardashian Look

One Saturday at church I was dressed in my very gorgeous, if I do say so myself, ankle boots I had bought from YDE (Young Designers Emporium). A friend of mine approached me and complimented my boots. the statement she made next is what inspired this post. She said, Mandy, you should rock these boots the way Kim Kardashian would, especially because you have the body to rock it! Don't roll your eyes at me though, it came right from the horses mouth so i'm not blowing my own  horn at all... So how can one rock the Kim Kardashian look?

What you will need:
A Black Blazer. It can have buttons or not. its up to you...

A white tank top. You can make it any color though. but keep it classy!

A pair of shiny black leggings. Non Negotiable!

and to seal the deal, a pair of suede ankle stiletto boots! (Sexy heal work too)

The finished product:

And to accessorize, if you're that person:

A nice big hand bag.

And there you have it...
